Summer Family Session Ideas in Northern Florida | Documentary Family Photographer
Beach sessions are beautiful, but they’re not your only option for family photos in Northern Florida.
This summer, I met up with a family at a wooded creek—and it was exactly the kind of session I love. No posing. No “say cheese.” Just kids wading through shallow water, flipping over rocks looking for minnows, and completely forgetting I was there with my camera.
When kids have something to do, they stop performing. They balance on fallen logs, splash their siblings, reach for mom’s hand when the water gets deeper. That’s when you get the real stuff—the photos that actually look like your family.
Northern Florida has great natural settings beyond the beach. Wooded trails, creeks, shaded parks—these spots give kids room to explore and offer completely different light and scenery than sand and surf. If you have little ones who aren’t beach fans or you just want variety, outdoor locations like this work really well.
If you’re in the 30A or Panama City Beach area and want a family session that feels authentic, let’s talk. I’m all about capturing your family as you actually are—muddy knees and all the in-between moments included.
